MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — A man was stabbed during what Berkeley County Sheriff Nathan Harmon is describing as a family domestic incident.
It happened Sunday at a resident off Pineda Lane in Martinsburg.
Deputies responded just before 2:30 in the afternoon and discovered the victim, Derrick Hayes, 47, with lacerations on his head. He had two stab wounds on his back, as well.
Two men came into the residence, one of whom was identified as William Patrick Gray, 28, who reportedly had a relationship with Hayes’s daughter. The second man was wearing a face mask and has not been identified. A press release from the sheriff’s office indicated he is a black male.
The daughter and Mr. Gray are residents of Maryland and were reported to be traveling back towards the Baltimore Area in a burgundy Ford SUV, according to the press release. A Be on the Lookout (BOLO) was issued for the vehicle and the persons of interest.
Warrants are currently pending for William Gray for Malicious Wounding.
At last report Mr. Hayes was being medically treated and was in Stable Condition.
