CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. — At Monday night’s Jefferson County Board of Education meeting, the board heard from Superintendent, Dr. Chuck Bishop, who announced that on October 27th from 6:00 until 7:30 in the evening, the second Jefferson County Schools’ Sensory Trunk or Treat will take place. Hosted at Charles Town Middle School, the event provided a safe and inclusive environment for families of neurotypically diverse children to celebrate Halloween.
Also at Monday night’s meeting, the board heard a report about a recent meeting at the state level by various educators to specifically address the science of reading. There are four goals from that team. They began by forming the team, a cross section of affected educators. Then they developed a plan using a creative strategy, analyze the data, and putting what they’ve learned into practice. It’s only been a couple of weeks since that meeting, so they’re in the formative stage of implementation of a plan.
