FREDERICK, MD — A Berkeley Springs man who was the front seat passenger of a car that went off the road in Frederick County last week died as a result of his injuries.
The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office, MD says the crash happened in the early morning hours of Thursday (at approximately 3:20 a.m. on Thursday August 17th) at Winchester Boulevard near Mountville Road in the Adamstown area, for a reported single-vehicle crash involving a 2022 Nissan Altima.
The Sheriff’s Office says, “Preliminary findings indicate that the driver of the vehicle was negotiating a curve left of the roadway (Winchester Blvd) when the vehicle ran off the road right, down a hill, and into a tree.”
Emergency Medical Services personnel pronounced the front seat passenger deceased on scene.
He’s been identified as 24-year-old Kelby Ryan Lester, age 24, with a last known address of Berkeley Springs, West Virginia. Deputies made all next of kin notifications.
The driver of the vehicle fled the scene and deputies were reportedly still trying to make contact. The crash is still under investigation and anyone with information can contact Deputy 1st Class Bryan Bittenmaster at 240-285-5604.
