MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — Emergency Authorities in Berkeley County are issuing a traffic advisory ahead of this weekend’s air show at the Eastern West Virginia Regional Airport south of Martinsburg.

Portions of US 11 (Winchester Avenue) and Novak Drive south of Martinsburg will be closed to non-emergency, thru traffic from 3 PM to 8 PM on Saturday and Sunday in the vicinity of the Eastern West Virginia Regional Airport during the Air Show event on Aug. 26-27.  The air show is set to run from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. each day, but traffic will be impacted before, during, and after the event.

The following special event traffic pattern and travel restrictions will be in effect, according to a press release from Berkeley County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management:

· US 11 Southbound – Closure from Novak Drive/Business Park Drive intersection to Paynes Ford Road (Local traffic will be stopped at intersection of Novak Drive/Business Park Drive).

· US 11 Northbound – Closure from Novak Drive/Business Park Drive intersection to Nadenbousch Lane (Local traffic will be stopped at intersection of Novak Drive/Business Park Drive).

· Novak Drive – Westbound only to Business Park Drive and I-81; No turns permitted onto US 11; Closed to Eastbound traffic.

· Business Park Drive – Eastbound traffic reduced to one lane, and traffic restricted to right turn only onto US 11

Motorists should expect heavy traffic congestion on roadways within five (5) miles of Novak Drive. Traffic will be under the direction of the West Virginia State Police and the West Virginia Division of Highways.

The airshow is set for August 26 & 27, 2023  9:30AM – 5PM daily  at the Eastern WV Regional Airport at
