Reimagine Appalachia held a webinar on Thursday to talk about the upcoming Farm bill and SNAP benefits. One of the panelists was Violet from Reimagine Appalachia who explained the program and its impact.

During Covid, SNAP benefits were increased to help those in need. But, this March that changed.

During the webinar Joshua Lohnes, a Research Professor in charge of the WVU Food Justice Lab spoke about the barriers facing WV residents.

Joanna Vance, the Economic Justice Program Coordinator for WV Economic Justice connected a lack of food to the current opiod crisis.

Joshua Lohnes added that one issue for West Virginia is the importance of reinvesting in our local food economy
