HAGERSTOWN, MD — Hagerstown Police have identified the suspect in a hammer and gun attack that left a victim in critical condition over the weekend.

The suspect has been identified as Timothy Lee Ware of 524 Virginia Avenue Apartment 1 in Hagerstown in an assault and first degree attempted murder case from Saturday.

Hagerstown police were dispatched on August 5th just before 4 a.m. to 54 Devonshire Road where they found a victim who had been assaulted with a hammer and later determined to have sustained a gunshot wound.

Police believe Ware and the victim are parents of an infant child who Ware took from the home.

“The child was located in Smithsburg a few hours later with the assistance of the Washington County Sheriff’s Dept. CPS was notified and responded for the child,” according to a press release from the HPD.

The victim, whose name has not been released, was flown to Shock Trauma in Baltimore and remains in critical condition.

Ware was last reportedly still at large. He is described as a 53-year old black male, 5′ 10″, 225 pounds

Attempted 1st and 2nd Degree Murder
1st and 2nd Degree Assault
Reckless Endangerment
Neglect of a minor
Various gun charges
