HAGERSTOWN, MD —
Multiple arrests as part of a human trafficking and sexual solicitation operation have been carried out in Washington County. The Washington County Sheriff’s Department reports for the past several weeks, their office partnered with the Maryland State Police Criminal Enforcement Division and Child Recovery Unit and Homeland Security Investigations to conduct a Human Trafficking and sexual solicitation operation.
“This operation had great success, where law enforcement was able to identify trafficking victims as well as child sex predators,” according to a press release from the Sheriff’s Office.
“The Washington County Health Department partnered with law enforcement and provided the victims with numerous harm reduction programs. A total of 11 subjects were detained during the operation, and of the 11 subjects, 5 were able to be placed into harm reduction programs by the Washington County Health Department. The remaining 6 individuals have been charged and are listed below. Along with the other charges listed below, two arrest warrants were served, and illegal narcotics removed from various suspects.”
It was a coordinated effort between the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, The Maryland State Police Criminal Enforcement Division and Child Recovery Unit, Homeland Security Investigations, and The Washington County Health Department under the Maryland Criminal Intelligence Network (MCIN). The Governor’s Office of Crime Prevention, Youth, and Victim Services provides grant funding and strategic support to MCIN member sites to identify, disrupt, and dismantle criminal organizations and those involved in human trafficking through inter-agency collaboration and data sharing to make Maryland safer.
