HAGERSTOWN, MD — the current CFO for Washington County has been named Acting County Administrator.
The Washington County Board of County Commissioners this week announced the appointment of of Michelle Gordon, who most recently has served as Chief Financial Officer (CFO), as the Acting County Administrator.
This decision comes following the retirement of the previous County Administrator John Martirano.
The announcement says, “Michelle Gordon has been an integral part of the Washington County team for the past seven months, serving as the CFO and playing a crucial role in managing the county’s finances. Her extensive experience and deep understanding of the county’s operations make her an excellent candidate for the interim role.”
The announcement touted Gordan’s leadership and commitment to public service and said she has demonstrated “exceptional financial acumen, implementing innovative strategies that have resulted in increased efficiency and improved financial stability for the county.”
Gordon will now oversee the day-to-day operations of the county, working closely with the Board of County Commissioners “to ensure the delivery of essential services to the residents and collaborate with county departments to address the needs and concerns of the community,” according to the announcement.
The Board of County Commissioners will soon initiate the search for a permanent County Administrator, undertaking “a comprehensive selection process to identify a qualified candidate who will lead the county into the future.”
