MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office has made a positive identification of the man they say was found Thursday in a waste tank at the Big Springs Water Filtration Plant south of Martinsburg.

They say they plan to make an announcement regarding his identity “pending the successful notification of next of kin and information from the Officer of the Chief Medical Examiner.”

On Friday, the Sheriff’s Office released a description of the man as “a white male, approximately 5 foot, 9 inches, weighing approximately 150 lbs. The male was clean shaven with reddish brown hair, with multiple tattoos including one that read Angel on his right forearm, a heart on his left wrist and a nautical star on his right calf.”

The man’s body was found around 8:00 Thursday morning when crews at the Treatment Plant arrived for work.

Sheriff Nathan Harmon said in a statement late last week: “The circumstances of his death are still under investigation and awaiting results from the Medical examiner.”

Anyone with any information regarding the case is asked to contact Deputy S.T. Dopson at the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office or call Crime Solvers at 304-267-4999.
