Martinsburg, W.Va.– Broncos trade Bradley Chubb and a 2025 5th round pick to the Dolphins for RB Chase Edmunds, a 2023 1st and 2024 4th round pick.

Dolphins are showing they’re in win-now mode by locking up Chubb on a five-year extension to be their premier edge rusher with second-year man Jaelan Phillips on the other side. A hefty price to pay for a first-round pick, but if Chubb can produce this will be worthwhile. Grade: B+

The Broncos traded away an expiring deal and a player that more than likely was not going to be able to bring back and net a 1st that can help them for whatever plan they have going forward. The Broncos are such a weird team: their head coach Nathaniel Hackett seems bad, is Russell Wilson the answer for the next few years? With the Seahawks owning the Broncos pick, getting back a 1st for Chubb is great.

49ers acquire Christian McCaffrey from Carolina Panthers for 2023 2nd, 3rd, and 4th round picks, as well as a 2024 5th round pick.

The 49ers stockpiled their picks for this year and sent them over to Carolina to get the services of CMC in their backfield. This grade will all depend on how healthy McCaffrey can be for this team. If he can be, he’s a massive get for an exciting offense. If he gets banged up, then the Panthers run away with draft capital to aid them in their rebuild.

Grade: B

It is no secret Carolina is headed for a rebuild and the primary focus for next year will be finding their QB and head coach of the future. I doubt Baker is on the roster come next year, while Sam Darnold could settle in as the backup in Carolina for a rookie QB. There is a lot of young talent in Carolina, namely on defense for Carolina in defensive tackle Derrick Brown, corner Jaycee Horn, safety Jeremy Chinn, and defensive end Brian Burns. If Carolina can retool the offense around D.J. Moore with these picks it will be a win

Bears ship Robert Quinn to Eagles for 4th round pick:

Chicago was looking to sell on their defense at the deadline and sending Quinn to the Eagles will only bolster that defense as he is playing like fine wine. Would like to have seen Chicago get a little more.

Eagles Grade: B

Ravens receive Roquan Smith from Chicago for 2nd and 5th-round picks.

Baltimore adding the NFL’s leading tackler to their roster is a fantastic addition. He will excel in the Raven’s defense and should make plays in now a loaded defense. The only caveat is the Ravens have to extend Smith with this being the last year of his contract and have to pay Lamar Jackson as well.

Grade: B-

Chicago is trying to build a young core for the future and it seems Roquan is not part of the future plans and rightfully so. With getting these picks, Chicago is adding more to their arsenal to bolster their roster and make life easier for QB Justin Fields who has shown flashes in year two.

Bears snag Chase Claypool from Pittsburgh for 2nd round pick.

Chicago goes from selling off to buying at the deadline as they get Chase Claypool closer to his alma mater of Notre Dame. I overall think this was a pretty even trade. Maybe the Bears should have asked for a 3rd instead of a 2nd but Claypool is under contract for another year and a half and this opens the door for rookie George Pickens to become the WR2 for the Steelers as Claypool forms a 1-2 punch with Darnell Mooney in Chi-Town

TJ Hockenson traded in his own division to Minnesota for mainly a 2nd round pick and a pick swap in 2024.

This was by far the most confusing deal of the deadline. Hockenson will join a loaded Minnesota offense while Detroit really is only coming away with a 2nd round pick and just swapping picks and conditions. Boggling trade on both ends but Detroit is the loser here

Vikings grade: B-

Lions grade: D+

Calvin Ridley goes from Falcons to Jaguars for conditional 5th this year and conditional 2nd next year.

Calvin Ridley was a player no one expected to get traded at the deadline with him being suspended all this season for a gambling controversy. The Jaguars get Ridley who will be 28 when he returns to the field. After taking off most of the 2020 season due to mental health reasons and now a suspension: it is going to feel more like two years since he’s fully been on the field. The Falcons getting a possible 2nd next year is a big get and can bolster their team and their young nucleus of A.J. Terrell, Drake London, and Kyle Pitts.
