CHARLESTON, W.Va. — More than 30 high schools from across the state were honored Tuesday by the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission (HEPC) for their efforts in getting students ready for college.
Among them were four high schools from the Eastern Panhandle.
The HEPC held a Champions of College Access and Success awards ceremony at the West Virginia Culture Center.
They honored schools from 27 counties as ‘Champions of College Access and Success.’ among them were Paw Paw High School, Jefferson High School, Martinsburg High School, and Musselman High School.
High schools that meet certain criteria are honored each year by the HEPC as Champions because of participation in three milestone college-planning activities coordinated by College for West Virginia (CFWV).
Those activities include College Application and Exploration Week, the FAFSA Completion Campaign, and College Decision Day.
80 individuals from across the schools were on hand Tuesday. Each school received a banner and certificate.
