BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. — A man has been stabbed to death in Morgan County and another is now behind bars.
Morgan County Sheriff K.C. Bohrer reports just after 1:00 a.m. September 5th, deputies Knotts and Roper were dispatched to a welfare check in the 9000 block of Winchester Grade Road by Morgan E911. Callers indicated a stabbing had occurred.
Deputies located a subject standing in blood covered clothing. There was another man covered in blood lying on the ground, reportedly suffering from multiple stab wounds.
Deputies Knotts and Roper secured the suspect later identified as 21 year-old Gabriel Cardwell of Martinsburg. They also recovered a knife.
The injured man, later identified as 47-year-0ld Scott Allen Mullen was treated by EMS but died at the scene.
The deceased man’s body will be sent to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for post mortem.
Cardwell has been charged with murder and is being held without bond at the Eastern Regional Jail.
The incident is still under investigation, according to Sheriff Bohrer.
