HAGERSTOWN, MD – A little boy is dead in Washington County and two people, including his mother, are being held without bond charged in his abuse and death.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Department tells the Panhandle News Network they were dispatched to a home at 11877 White Pine Drive where they found EMS attempting life-saving measures on a five-year-old boy. He was transported to Children’s National Hospital but ultimately pronounced deceased.
As a result, two people were arrested, including the child’s mother.

The child’s mother, 30-year-old Catherine Thrasher faces multiple charges, including Child Abuse in the First Degree Resulting In Death of a Child Under 13, Custodial Child Abuse, Sex Abuse, and Neglect of a Minor.

Both are being held without bond in Washington County.
Two other children, ages 2 and 3 were in the home and are now under the super vision of the Washington County Department of Social Services.  The 2-year-old was taken to Children’s Hospital in Washington, DC but has since been released.

The case is ongoing, and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office says more information is forthcoming.
