HALFWAY, MD — One person died and two were injured after a crash in Halfway, Maryland Thursday night.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office says the crash report came in around 10:00 last night.

Deputies responded to Halfway Boulevard in the area of Oak Ridge Drive and found a Toyota engulfed in flames. The driver was determined to be deceased at the scnee.

Investigators believe the driver of the Toyota was traveling Easton Halfway Boulevard and lost control of the vehicle, which then entered oncoming traffic, striking a Chevy Malibu and catching fire.

The occupants of the Chevy were taken to Medical Center to treat their injuries.

The remains of the deceased have been transported to the Office of the Medical Examiner for autopsy and positive identification.

An Accident Reconstructionist was called to the scene; the incident remains under investigation.
