The expansion is set to double the factory’s capacity and create new jobs.
BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. — Calling it “the beginning of a new era in America — the return of growth
in manufacturing businesses and employment in wood furniture manufacturing,” Gat Creek in Berkeley Springs
is celebrating an expansion Thursday.
The expansion will double the floor space and its capacity to build at the solid-wood furniture manufacturer in Morgan County.
Gat Creek Vice President of Marketing and Sales David Petersen says its 165 employees were invited to sign a steel girder that will be
installed in a new section of the factory.
As part of the expansion announcement, Gat Caperton, CEO and owner of the company, is lauding the return of manufacturing
jobs from Asia and positive impacts on the economic health of rural communities
like Morgan County.
The announcement was set to begin today before noon at 5270 Valley Road (Route 522), Berkeley Springs, WV
Gat Creek is a solid wood, American-made furniture factory in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia
making products in a range of contemporary and traditional styles. Over 250 designs are madeto-order in four Appalachian hardwood species, sixty-four finishes, and other options. Each
piece is personally signed and dated by the builder. The Company is a founding member of the
Sustainable Furnishings Council and holds Silver Exemplary status.
