HALFWAY, MD — A Hagerstown man is facing multiple charges, including Attempted 1st Degree Murder in a shooting incident Wednesday at Valley Mall that injured a teenager.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office reports the call came in around 6:30 June 8th to the mall at 17301 Valley Mall Road, Hagerstown, MD, for reports of shots fired.
They found a 19-year-old gunshot victim inside of Dicks Sporting Goods. The man was transported by ambulance to Meritus Medical Center for further treatment.
Deputies identifed a suspect, 21-year-old Matthew Steven Lookabaugh of Hagerstown. Their investigation indicated Lookabaugh and a juvenile had been in a verbal altercation with the victim which escalated into the shooting incident in the parking lot of the mall.
Lookabaugh was transported to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center and charged with the following:
1. Attempted 1st Degree Murder
2. Attempted 2nd Degree Murder
3. 1st Degree Assault
4. 2nd Degree Assault
5. Reckless Endangerment
6. Other gun charges relating to the incident
