BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. — A Thursday morning crash in Morgan County has claimed the life of a driver.
Morgan County Sheriff KC Bohrer says the call came in just after 8:00 in the morning to a crash on WV-9 in the 8000 block of Martinsburg Road.
Lieutenant Place responded. The preliminary investigation indicated the driver of a 2009 Honda ran off the road and struck a power pole. The driver was ejected and died as a result of the crash.
The individual has not been publicly identified pending notification of next of kin, according to the sheriff.
Sheriff Bohrer says one vehicle was involved and the driver the only occupant. WV 9 was shut down for an extended period.
Also responding to the crash to assist was Morgan County EMS, Berkeley Springs and Hedgesville Volunteer Fire Departments, West Virginia Department of Highways, and the Medical Examiner.
The investigation is continuing.
