BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. — The list of schools designated as Purple Star Schools includes many in the Eastern Panhandle.

This week, Morgan County Schools announced Pleasant View Elementary and Warm Springs Intermediate Schools had earned the designation.

The West Virginia Department of Education says a number of schools from the Eastern Panhandle also earned the designation, including several from Berkeley County.

The Purple Star School designation is for schools that “continually show dedication to supporting military children.”
The West Virginia Department of Education reports the total number of Purple Star Schools in West Virginia is now 200.
