MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — It’s a “Hoof to Table” event, and it’s happening Friday. The Berkeley County Youth Fair Association/FFA Tri-County Ham, Bacon, and Egg Show & Sale is the culmination of a year’s worth of hard work by some talented youth in Berkeley, Jefferson, and Morgan Counties.

Here’s WVU Extension Agent Mikie Withrow says throughout the year an FFA member will select and raise a hog, learning about nutrition and the ‘ins and outs of raising hogs.’

“They are part of the process to cut the meat, to cure the meat,” he says.

“There are so many different educational pieces that come to those (FFA) members from learning how to feed it and nutrient values to the slaughtering process where they watch it go from ‘animal’ to ‘meat’ and they determine what cuts they need.”

Withrow says it’s a marquee event in the life of an FFA member, one that he participated in as a youth in Berkeley County.

The show and sale will take place Friday evening at the Berkeley County Youth Fairgrounds Indoor Exhibit Building
It starts with a 6:30 pm Buyers Reception.

The sale gets started at 7 p.m.

Withrow says both businesses and local residents can come and buy.

The sale includes FFA members with hog projects, in Berkeley, Jefferson and Morgan County WV.
