HAGERSTOWN, MD — The People’s Convoy moved a little closer to the seats of power yesterday as they ventured further into the interior of the Capital Beltway Monday.
The trucker demonstrations, ostensibly protesting COVID-19 regulations, have arrived in the Washington, DC area from around the country. They’ve been driving around highways to spread their message. Rolling road closures may have caught some commuters off guard yesterday.
The convoy announces its route daily on its social media, departing usually around 9:30 each morning from the Hagerstown Speedway and travel “Rt 40e to Rt 63s To I-70e to I-270 to I-495 to I-270 to I-70 to Rt 63n to Rt 40w back into the Hagerstown Speedway.”
Hagerstown is just north of the West Virginia Line and sits along the I-81 corridor.
The PeoplesConvoy.com website declares their goal to have the federal government lift the declaration of a national emergency concerning the COVID-19 Pandemic “immediately,” which they say will restore the Constitution.
