HAGERSTOWN, MD — Local law enforcement and emergency services have been alerted about an anticipated motor convoy that is expected to arrive in the community by Friday afternoon.

The volume of vehicles involved in the “People’s Convoy” will likely create traffic congestion and delays on major transportation routes and secondary roads. Area law enforcement have been warned as many as 100 vehicles could be coming from the Northeast with around 300-400 more joining up from points west.

Major arteries that could be affected in our area include I-68, I-70, and I-81 as truckers converge from points west and north and may be exiting at Exit 6-B off I-81.

The convoys plan to come together as one in the Hagerstown Area some time Friday afternoon, according to the announcement, although some trucks had already arrived by Thursday evening.

Washington County Public Schools will dismiss students 2 and half hours early Friday. WCPS previously added an early dismissal to the academic calendar on Friday, March 11, 2022. Students will no longer be dismissed early on that date.
