HAGERSTOWN, MD — A fatal domestic incident in Hagerstown claimed the life of a woman on Christmas Day.
The Hagerstown Police Department says they were dispatched to 320 S. Burhans Boulevard around 6:30 in the evening for a reported gun shot victim.
The female victim was identified as Tristen Shifflet, age 37 of Hagerstown. She was transported to Meritus Medical Center where she succumbed to her wounds.
Her boyfriend 34-year-old Justin Kyle Marshall, of Greencastle PA, shot her during a dispute, striking her in the neck.
Marshall fled the scene but was taken in to custody at about 2:45am on 12/26/21 by the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Department.
Marshall had an active arrest warrant through Pennsylvania State Police for assault in a separate incident involving Shifflet.
He had also been convicted of 2nd degree murder in 2004 in a Hagerstown homicide (non domestic related). He had been out of prison for approximately 2 years.
The couple shared a young child together. Washington County Child Protective Services took custody of the boy and made further arrangements for his housing.
Marshall is charged with with 1st Degree Murder and numerous other related charges regarding the 12/25/21 incident.
