MARTINSBURG, W. Va. It’s a life sentence for the man found guilty in the May 2020 death of Ryan Lynch in Berkeley County.

Berkeley County Prosecuting Attorney Catie Wilkes Delligatti  announced Friday 42-year-old Donnyel Nathaniel Simmons, formerly of Baltimore but more recently from Martinsburg was found guilty by a jury on felony charges including First Degree Murder, Use of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, and Felony Possession of a Firearm.

Ryan Lynch was shot to death May 24th of last year in south Berkeley County.

After a four day trial, the jury rendered the guilty verdict and attached no recommendation of mercy, which means a sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Delligatti thanked the jury for ‘carefully weighing the evidence and providing
a verdict that achieves justice for the victim and our community in what was truly a cold-blooded
execution.’

She praised the teamwork and the ‘meticulous’ investigative work by police and members of her office.
