MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — What was supposed to be an all-day rain event started instead as a wintry mix in the Eastern Panhandle and other areas of the Mountain State Tuesday morning.
Morgan County Sheriff KC Bohrer said the hazardous road conditions prompted the courthouse to delay opening for two hours.
He told the Panhandle News Network the roads were “awful” in Morgan County due to the weather Tuesday morning, citing “multiple crashes everywhere” in the county.
He advised motorists to stay off the road during the weather event.

The weather altered plans around the region, with Frederick County, Virginia schools cancelling classes for the day and bus routes being altered in Berkeley County Schools.
Wind advisories are in effect for parts of the state, with wind gusts of 45 to 60 mph possible in some areas. Strong wind gusts could cause trees and limbs to fall, which could lead to power outages.
