Pedestrian struck, driver charged in Route 522 accident

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. — A woman has been charged for allegedly striking a pedestrian on Route 522.

Morgan County deputies responded to the intersection of Fairfax Street and Route 522 at 4:02 Thursday afternoon.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered a westbound vehicle on Fairfax Street turned onto Route 522 southbound and struck a pedestrian in the crosswalk.

The 77 year-old victim was taken to Winchester Medical Center for treatment of injuries.

Rachel Gray, 92 of Berkeley Springs, has been identified as the driver. Gray has been charged with failure to yield the right of way.

A referral has been made to the West Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles to review Gray’s driver’s license.
