Domestic Violence Claims A Woman’s Life in Hagerstown

HAGERSTOWN, MD — A domestic violence incident in Hagerstown has left a woman dead and a man arrested.

The Hagerstown Police Department tells The Panhandle News Network officers conducted a welfare check Sunday, April 28th at a residence in the 400 block of McDowell Ave. On scene, “officers discovered an apparent homicide victim, later determined to be 57 year old Renee Elizabeth Shoemaker of Hagerstown.”

Criminal Investigators and Forensic Crime Scene Investigators believe it was a domestic related homicide and the victim and suspect lived together.

“At approximately 5:30 pm, Officers of the Harrisburg (PA) City Police Department came in to contact with the homicide suspect and he was subsequently arrested.”

Cleo Hermon Brown, age 50 of Hagerstown has been charged with 1st and 2nd degree homicide along with related charges.

HPD would like to thank Pennsylvania State Police Troop H and the Harrisburg Police Department for their assistance in the apprehension of Brown.
